THE GREAT QUARANTINE ADVENTURE

THE GREAT QUARANTINE ADVENTURE

By Christina Koeppel

You’ve been EGGED!

Miss Sue, Kara Bushong, and I began May with a quarantine adventure.

We missed seeing our church family so much that we decided to go to them. After traveling over 300 miles and spending four days in our cars, we were able to see 53 families. It was a huge blessing for us to see so many faces in person.

One of the great discoveries and blessings of the trip was to see where all the people who normally gather on a Sunday come from. We travelled to Pekin, Groveland, Morton, East Peoria, Germantown Hills, Washington, Spring Bay, Metamora, Congerville, Chillicothe, Dunlap, Pottstown, Mapleton, Bartonville, Glasford, and of course, Peoria.

Our congregation is truly a trail mix of Central Illinois. We have Lions, Tigers, and Bears – Oh my! We live in big houses and small houses, apartments and condos, in the middle of the city and in the middle of nowhere. I am thankful for our church family and the diversity we bring.

We all come from different backgrounds and have amazing stories to tell. I can’t wait to see our family together again. But for now, we have to take things on the road. Thank you for the blessing of sharing just a part of your quarantine. Thank you for letting us see your kids, pet your dogs, admire your gardens, and check out your fabulous chalk-work!
