POSITION:  Director of Children & Adult Discipleship Ministries
                                   
POSITION PURPOSE:  To make disciples of Jesus Christ through Children and Adult Ministries
POSITION STATUS:  Full-Time, Exempt     
 
REPORTS TO:  Directing Pastor
 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent field of study preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience in children, adult, family ministries or similar position
  • Ability to interact and work independently and collaboratively with diverse staff and community
  • Experience and thorough understanding of the United Methodist Church and Wesleyan perspective
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and other technological resources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively supervise others and demonstrate positive accountability to those in authority
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Support, mentor, and recommend materials for adult Sunday School classes and small groups
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive ministry programs and outreach to children and families
  • Procure quality curricula for children’s Sunday School and other special programs within the ministry
  • Supervise staff and volunteers involved in the delivery of Children and Adult Ministries
  • Provide full resources, guidance, and support for children and families within the Hispanic community
  • Provide training for children and adult Sunday School class and group leaders on a regular basis
  • Evaluate and continually improve resource needs for growth in discipleship and education
  • Create and manage annual budget including restricted funds relating to Children and Adult ministries
  • Direct all necessary information related to Children and Adult Ministries for website, print, intra-church, and community publicity to the Director of Communication
  • Attend adult Sunday school classes and groups periodically to learn the social makeup of each group
  • Design a viable, ongoing, volunteer-driven ministry to children at the Saturday ‘Alive’ worship service
