Director of Fine Arts Ministry

REPORTS TO:  Directing Pastor

POSITION PURPOSE:  To lead the visioning, planning, and coordination of a Christian ministry of fine arts outreach to the community at large

POSITION STATUS:  Part-Time, Non-Exempt

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts or related field of study
  • Well-developed creative sensibility with vision and passion for art within the church
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft or Apple productivity programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact and work independently and collaboratively with diverse staff and community
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Plan, implement, and oversee budget for Foster Endowment art outreach ministries
  • Recruit, guide, and inspire volunteers for existing and/or developing fine arts opportunities
  • Engage those from differing religious and professional backgrounds in relationship building 
  • Compose articles for local media and church publications
  • Utilize social media for outreach and multimedia for relevant presentations
  • Provide quarterly reports to Peoria FUMC Foundation as accountability for use of funds

POSITION ANCILLARY DUTIES:

  • Attend meetings of Peoria First Church Foundation as requested
  • Represent First Church through membership with local art committees and groups 
  • Perform other duties consistent with Foster Endowment as assigned

Receptionist/Administrative Assistant

REPORTS TO:  Director of Administration & Facilities

POSITION PURPOSE:  Provide exceptional customer service and administrative support 

POSITION STATUS:  Part-Time, Non-Exempt

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year receptionist or administrative support experience 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint software programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively interact and work with diverse staff and community
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Answer all incoming calls and handle each caller’s inquiry in a timely and professional manner
  • Re-direct calls and/or take messages as appropriate
  • Greet, assist, and direct all members, vendors, and visitors to appropriate staff members
  • Provide administrative support to various Directors of Ministries
  • Coordinate the Benevolence Ministry
  • Attend weekly staff meeting and record minutes

Production / AV Manager

Description
The First United Methodist Church in Peoria, Illinois is a growing downtown church looking for a part‐time individual to oversee and run our AV Team.  This position requires some evening and weekend hours, involves a combination of hands‐on and oversight for audio, video, lighting, and closed-circuit television.  We are looking for a self-­motivated individual with at least a bachelor’s degree or 3 to 5 years in‐field audio, video, lighting, and multimedia experience of an intermediate to advanced level.  The right individual will have the technical knowledge of how to troubleshoot and provide solutions and repairs, procure, and install equipment, has an ear for proper audio mixing, and will be able to recruit and train volunteers.  

Required Skills  
  • Audio – Digital & analog soundboards, design, and maintenance.   
  • Video – Editing, posting services to website, and collaborating in musical/theatrical productions. 
  • Lighting – Design, programming, and maintenance.  

Required Tasks  
  • Sound engineer in weekend services (three of four current services).  
  • Primary individual for weddings and funerals. 
  • Ability to organize, train, and coordinate volunteer technicians/engineers and project leaders.  
  • Reading and understanding schematic and technical manuals.  
  • Ability to work in a team and/or independent professional manner.  
  • Ability to operate equipment and integrated systems.  
  • Programming of control systems hardware and touch panel interface.  
  • Organize material and provide technical support to the staff.  
  • Ability to perform standard physical maintenance on audio cables, speakers, etc.  

Equipment in Use  
  • Audio: Allen and Heath, Shure wireless microphones, wireless hearing assistance/translation systems, and other sound boards (digital & analog).  
  • Multimedia: ProPresenter7 running on a Mac, touch screen switchers  (Digital signage – currently under Communications Director).  
  • Streaming platform: Boxcast and Wirecast.
  • Lighting: Various lighting boards, LED stage lights, various PARNels & ellipsoidals, and regular par cans.  

Salary Range  
This is a salaried position. 15 hours per week for 50 weeks per year. This position is an employee of the church; church pays match on social security/Medicare for compensation. Technician will receive first call on all weddings and funerals, which is paid as additional income.

Production / AV Assistant

Description
The First United Methodist Church in Peoria, Illinois is a growing downtown church looking for a part‐time individual to oversee and run our broadcast studio.  This position requires some evening and weekend hours, involves a combination of hands‐on and oversight abilities for audio and video for the on-line broadcast of our worship services and other events as needed.  We are looking for a self-­motivated individual with at least a bachelor’s degree or 3 to 5 years in‐field audio, video, and multimedia experience of an intermediate to advanced level.  The right individual will have an ear for proper audio mixing of live audio; be able to troubleshoot and provide solutions when equipment fails; and provide oversight and training for volunteers to run audio equipment.

Required Skills  
  • Audio – manage and maintain our on-line broadcast soundboards and manage a team of volunteers.  (Primary obligation)
  • Ability to oversee and train a bench of volunteers who can run sound with supervision.
  • Work in a team and/or independent professional manner.

Production Presentation Assistant

Description
The First United Methodist Church in Peoria, Illinois is a growing downtown church looking for a part‐time individual to create, oversee, and sometimes run our worship presentation playlists and create cue calls for our audio and video team. This position requires some evening and weekend hours, involves a combination of hands‐on and oversight abilities for presentation software and video cues for the in-house and on-line broadcast of our worship services, and other events as needed.  We are looking for a self-­motivated individual with at least a bachelor’s degree or experience with in‐field development of presentations, video, and multimedia experiences of an intermediate to advanced level.  The right individual will have an eye for detail, proof-reading skills, and an ability to think creatively.

Required Skills  
  • Video – an understanding of the basics of video editing and production.
  • Ability to collaborate with musical/theatrical/worship productions and have some understanding of how worship services are designed.
  • Knowledge of presentation software; in particular: ProPresenter7. 
  • Ability to work with a team and in an independent professional manner.  

Required Tasks  
  • Organize material and provide technical support to the staff.  
  • Operate video presentation equipment and software.
  • Create presentation with ProPresenter on a Mac.  
  • Read through the sermon notes, bulletin, or other worship related documents to create a ProPresenter playlist for the worship service. 
  • Management our presentation database by inputting songs, liturgy, media, and other media/video elements into ProPresenter.
  • Coordinate and communicate playlists and cue calls with staff and volunteers to include camera and presentation cues to audio and video personnel for both the in-house presentation and on-line broadcast.
 
Equipment in Use  
  • Multimedia: ProPresenter7 running on a Mac, touch screen switchers, TV monitors, video projectors, projection screens, and other A/V equipment.
  • Streaming platform: Boxcast and Wirecast.
  • Audio/Video: Allen and Heath and Blackmagic system.

Salary Range  
This is a salaried position, 8 hours a week.
