Director of Traditional Music and Worship

REPORTS TO
Directing Pastor

POSITION PURPOSE
To make disciples of Jesus Christ through dynamic traditional music ministry

POSITION SUMMARY
Support the Directing Pastor in planning  weekly and special worship services; in consultation select appropriate music and liturgies; direct the choir and instrumentalists; and coordinate worship volunteers who serve traditional worship.

POSITION STATUS
Full-Time, Exempt

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in music or related field and advanced musical training
  • Minimum three years of employment in a larger church setting
  • Experience in use of traditional and newer hymnody
  • Competent in use of music arranging software
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and social media resources
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills in relating to  congregants and diverse community
  • Ability to effectively supervise others and demonstrate positive accountability to those in authority

POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Meet weekly with the lead pastor and the worship team to discuss and shape worship services
  • Develop the liturgy for traditional worship services
  • Design, implement, and lead overall music series of traditional and special worship services
  • Direct all choral, handbell, and brass ensembles of varying ages and skill levels
  • Coordinate rotation of worship music for Sundays, Christmas, Easter, and special worship services
  • Provide training and lead volunteer teams of musicians, ushers, and communion stewards
  • Recruit, coach, and supervise choral student interns
  • Supervise the accompanist, instrumental directors, and other traditional worship employees
  • Create and manage traditional worship and music budget
  • Connect and build partnerships with area-wide music organizations and schools
  • Oversee inventory and maintenance of instruments, music, and worship related materials


Child Care Coordinator 


REPORTS TO  
Director of Discipleship

POSITION PURPOSE
To make disciples of Jesus Christ through childcare ministry.

POSITION STATUS
Part-Time, Non-Exempt

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of three years’ employment in childcare or similar position preferred.
Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and social media resources.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills in relating to members and diverse community.
Strong skillset in planning, coordinating, and scheduling coverage for care of the children.
Ability to effectively supervise others and demonstrate positive accountability to those in authority.
Effective use of ACS or related software to enhance personnel dimensions of ministry position.

POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide childcare to families during worship services and weekly scheduled ministries.
Hire, train, schedule, and supervise all childcare staff and volunteers.
Assist in developing policies governing the safety of all children receiving services.
Maintain record of children who attend childcare and send welcome cards to parents.
Support the Director of Congregation Care in sending gift bags to families with newborn babies.
Manage and process necessary paperwork for all four childcare rooms.
Assist with the Children & Family Ministry on an as-needed basis.
Coordinate with Director of Communications to create informational brochures of childcare services.

POSITION ANCILLARY DUTIES
Participate in regular team staff meetings and leadership in Sunday activities.
Perform other duties as assigned

Director of AV Production

REPORTS TO
Directing Pastor and Directors of Worship & Music

POSITION PURPOSE
To help the church make disciples of Jesus Christ through AV opportunities.

POSITION STATUS
Part-time (30 hours per week), non-exempt

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in managing audio, video, and lighting production
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills relating to a diverse community.
  • Understanding of the United Methodist Church and Wesleyan perspective.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Perform sound engineer duties in weekend worship services, special events, weddings, and funerals   
  • Organize, train, and coordinate volunteer technicians/engineers and project leaders
  • Supervise the editing and posting of worship services to our on-line community 
  • Comprehend schematic and technical manuals
  • Operate equipment and integrated systems
  • Control cameras to adjust for lighting, gain, focus and white balance
  • Organize material and provide technical support to the staff
  • Perform maintenance on audio cables, speakers, projectors etc.  
  • Provide technical support to staff, members, and outside groups as needed

POSITION ANCILLARY DUTIES
  • Attend staff, worship, and church council meetings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
