POSITION: Director of Traditional Worship & Music
                                   
REPORTS TO:  Directing Pastor
POSITION PURPOSE:  To make disciples of Jesus Christ through dynamic traditional music ministry
 
POSITION STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in music or related field and/or advanced musical training
  • Minimum three years of employment in a larger church setting or equivalent experience
  • Experience in use of traditional and newer hymnody
  • Ability to interact and work independently and collaboratively with diverse staff and community
  • Experience and thorough understanding of the United Methodist Church and Wesleyan perspective
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and other technological resources and willing to learn presentation software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively supervise others and demonstrate positive accountability to those in authority
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Support the Directing Pastor/Worship Team in planning weekly and special worship services
  • Select appropriate music for traditional worship services in consultation with Directing Pastor
  • Design, implement, and lead overall music series for traditional and special worship services
  • Direct all choral (and potentially handbell and brass ensembles) of varying ages and skill levels
  • Manage the recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteer teams of musicians, ushers, and communion stewards
  • Recruit, coach, and supervise choral student interns
  • Supervise accompanists, instrumental directors, and other traditional worship employees
  • Create and manage traditional worship and music budget
  • Connect and build partnerships with area-wide music organizations and schools
  • Oversee inventory and maintenance of instruments, music, and worship related materials
  • Create playlist for worship service using ProPresenter based on sermon notes, bulletin, and other worship documents
  • Manage presentation database by the input of songs, liturgy, media, and other media/video elements into ProPresenter
  • Oversee team to decorate the Sanctuary for Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and special services
  • Assist with the music for Alive worship services on Saturdays, in rotation, and as needed – potentially once a month, a minimum of once quarter

POSITION ANCILLARY DUTIES:
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and leadership activities
  • Attend Church Council and other meetings as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Director of Congregational Care

POSITION: Director of Congregational Care
REPORTS TO: Directing Pastor
POSITION PURPOSE: To make disciples of Jesus Christ through Congregational Care ministry
POSITION STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
 
 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
  • Two years of experience in managing congregational care ministries preferred
  • Ability to interact and work independently and collaboratively with diverse staff and community
  • Experience and thorough understanding of the United Methodist Church and Wesleyan perspective
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and other technological resources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate positive accountability to those in authority
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Visit with hospitalized congregants a minimum of twice per week
  • Provide oversight to the Caring Hearts ministry for our congregation’s hospitalized and shut-ins
  • Follow up with families who have lost a loved one within 2-4 weeks after a funeral
  • Ensure that Grief Share classes are offered annually or more often as needed
  • Send Grief Share books quarterly to congregants during the first year after their loved one has died
  • Maintain database of congregants to whom Grief Share books have been sent
  • Assist with funerals that are conducted at the church
  • Provide first aid and CPR training for staff and volunteers
  • Serve as liturgist in the traditional and contemporary worship services
